francie-swift-hostages-cost-of-living-cbs.jpgSince stabbing the man holding his family hostage with a needle full of poison didn't work, and all of his other plans failed, Brian Sanders ( Tate Donovan) tries a new tact on Monday's (Dec. 9) all-new episode of "Hostages."

He calls Nina ( Francie Swift) and tells her what her husband is up to, and oh yeah, by the way, she is the daughter of the president of the United States.

Brian has his daughter steal one of her friend's cell phones, so that the call won't be tapped. Then he calls Nina who is in a hospital bed, dying of leukemia. Still, Nina has the presence of mind to question this stranger.

Nina's husband is FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle ( Dylan McDermott), who is part of a bizarre plan to hold the Sanders family hostage until Ellen Sanders ( Toni Collette) does their bidding and kills the president while operating on him.

Though other political operatives have reasons for wanting the president dead, all Carlisle cares about is harvesting the president's marrow to save Nina. He has is coming after all, since when he was starting his political career, he raped a reporter.

She left the country, found out she pregnant as a result of the rape, and that child grew up to be Carlisle's wife, and the president's daughter.

Nina doesn't know about her parentage or what her husband is up to until Brian calls her. See for yourself in this clip released only to Zap2it:
