'How I Met Your Mother': Bob Saget thinks he knows the mother

bob-saget-getty-320.jpg Bob Saget, who narrates "How I Met Your Mother," isn't always there when the cast does its table read for a new episode. And after spoiling the major question of the series in front of a roomful of reporters Monday (Jan. 18), he might not get invited back.

OK, perhaps we're overselling that. But someone did ask Saget if he know the mother's identity, and he offered up the following:

"Ted is a stem cell of himself. So he's his own mother." Okaaay then.

On a more serious note, Saget says he's "really happy" to have been a part of "HIMYM" for the past five seasons. "To me it's a love letter," he says, "and I'm kind of a romantic."

The show gave fans their first glimpse of Ted's (Josh Radnor) future wife in last week's episode. Ted saw her foot disappear into the bedroom of the apartment she shares with Cindy (Rachel Bilson), who had several . He's had a few near-misses with the woman in the past, but that was the first time he laid eyes on her.

Monday the cast did a read-through of the season's 16th episode, called "Hooked," which will feature guest star Carrie Underwood (who was not able to make the table read). It's tentatively scheduled to air in March.
