kal-penn-how-i-met-your-mother.jpgWe've been told that Kal Penn will be a possible new beau for Robin on "How I Met Your Mother," but a peek at Penn's first appearance suggests it's not love at first sight.

Penn begins his guest run on the show Monday (Oct. 3) as Kevin, the court-ordered therapist Robin ( Cobie Smulders) begins seeing after she assaults a woman. She's plenty open to the possibilities of therapy -- and it wouldn't be the worst thing for her, we're guessing -- but Kevin is unimpressed.

We're also not sure that "You a dawg!" is a clinical psychological term, but Kevin doesn't seem like the type to mince words.

Penn's role on "HIMYM" is his first acting gig to hit the screen since he left "House" to join the Obama administration's Office of Public Engagement in 2009. He took some time off last year to film "A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas" alongside "HIMYM" star Neil Patrick Harris, but that doesn't hit theaters until November.

Take a look at a bit of Robin's therapy session with Kevin. How do you think Penn will fit in on "HIMYM"?
