'How to Be a Gentleman' to stop production after nine episodes
Now Deadline has confirmed that "Gentleman" is stopping production after nine episodes, which is essentially a cancelation, even though the network has not made an official announcement. "Rules of Engagement" will take over "Gentleman's" Thursday timeslot beginning on Oct. 20.
"Gentleman" did not have terrible ratings - most TV sitcoms would love a 9 million premiere and a 7.8 million viewer follow-up, with an average 2.6 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. But on CBS, those are not great numbers, plus "Gentleman" lost a large percentage of the 14 million lead-in "Big Bang Theory" ratings.
As Zap2it pointed out, last season "Rules of Engagement" aired following "Big Bang Theory" for part of the season and did better than "Gentleman" - "Engagement" averaged 8.8 million and a 3.0 18-49 demo rating.
