HSN cancels Keith Urban appearances after guitars sell out
Americans really want Keith Urban-approved guitars.
The "American Idol" judge was slated to sell his new URBAN Guitar Collection over the course of four appearances on HSN. After doing the first show on Nov. 3, more than 20,000 of the guitars sold. Because of that, the Home Shopping Network decided to cancel the last three scheduled shows -- and announce that this is the largest guitar debut ever for the retailer.
"With the sellout world premiere of the URBAN Guitar Collection, HSN has once again demonstrated its unique ability to showcase a brand across all platforms like no other retailer in the world," Joy Mangano, president of HSN affiliate Ingenious Designs, says in a statement. "This unprecedented launch marks the beginning of an exciting and dynamic partnership and I congratulate Keith on his tremendous debut. I look forward to our continued success as we work together to provide access to high-quality guitar packages to aspiring musicians everywhere."
The guitars contained in the collection include electric and electric/acoustic version of the "Phoenix Edition." Urban plays on the guitar during the stops on his current Light The Fuse Tour, and signs the guitar and gives it to a fan in the audience after the concerts end.
