Hugh Hefner: I got Lindsay Lohan to go nude for Playboy pics

lindsay-lohan-playboy-pic.jpgHugh Hefner claims that he's single-handedly responsible for talking Lindsay Lohan into taking it all off for her new Playboy spread.

"I think it was essentially mama [Dina] and the folks around her that kept pushing for less nudity," Hef tells E! News. "And I said, 'We're doing a nude pictorial here. We're going to do it in a very classy way and we're going to do it in a way in which it will not be forgotten.'"

After an initial photo set of pictures didn't pass muster with Hef, he ordered a reshoot. There was some speculation that Hef's disapproval was all about Lohan's teeth. In October she debuted a fresh, new smile and the reshoot occurred shortly after.  Hef also takes credit for the pictorial concept -- a Marilyn Monroe-tribute.

"So what is more natural," says Hefner, "since she is a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe, than do something that is a tribute to the red-velvet, Tom Kelley photo shot of Marilyn Monroe that was our very first Playmate?"

Hef does confess that he was dubious about the idea of Lohan posing for the magazine when the idea was first proposed by editors.

"I wasn't quite sure where she was at in her life, obviously," he says. "It depends on whether it's Tuesday or Thursday."
