Hugh Jackman's first 'The Wolverine' pic: Claws and abs and veins, oh my

hugh-jackman-the-wolverine.jpgThe first image from "The Wolverine" has hit the web, and safe to say Hugh Jackman has been working out ahead of playing the brooding X-Man once again.

That's putting it mildly. We don't doubt the possibility of a little digital help -- because, honestly, does anyone have that many veins in their arms? -- but Jackman looks seriously ripped in the photo, which was first posted at ComingSoon.net.

"The Wolverine," due for release in June 2013, will mark Jackman's fifth time playing the character, following the first three "X-Men" movies and the standalone "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." The story has Logan traveling to Japan to face someone from his past, and is based on a comic miniseries from the early 1980s by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. It also stars Will Yun Lee ("Total Recall") and Hiroyuki Sanada ("Lost").

James Mangold ("Walk the Line," "3:10 to Yuma") is directing and has said he's taking inspiration from movies like "The Outlaw Josey Wales," "Rear Window" and "Chinatown" moreso than superhero movies, suggesting "The Wolverine" won't just be about the action (which is nonetheless sure to be plentiful).

Here's the full shot of Jackman as Wolverine. What do you think? Are you excited for the movie?
