Ichiro Suzuki in crash: Yankees outfielder walks away unscathed
Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki is a very lucky man. Suzuki was in a car crash on Saturday (March 2) that destroyed his car, but he ended up walking away from the accident unharmed.
Suzuki was driving away from Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla. when a woman cut him off as she tried to make a left turn. His Land Rover hit her vehicle, which was then hit by another car. Suzuki's automobile was towed from the scene, but fortunately neither he nor the other two people involved were injured.
"He did nothing wrong," Tampa Police Lt. Ronald McMullen tells The New York Daily News. "The woman was given a citation for cutting him off."
Sounds like Suzuki should consider himself lucky for not being slated to play in the Yankees Spring Training game against the Red Sox at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers on March 3 -- and, you know, that nothing serious happened in this incident that could have put him out for the season.
