'Intelligence' premiere moves up to January on CBS, 'Hostages' gets finale date

intelligence-premiere-date-cbs.jpgCBS has moved up the premiere of its midseason drama "Intelligence" by more than month -- and will give it a big push to start out.

The drama starring Josh Holloway ("Lost") and Marg Helgenberger ("CSI") will debut at 9 p.m. ET Tuesday, Jan. 7, following a new episode of "NCIS." It moves to its regular home at 10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, taking over for "Hostages."

"Intelligence" had been scheduled to debut Feb. 24, out of the way of NBC's Winter Olympics coverage (which ends Feb. 23). The new plan will have the show airing five episodes before the Olympics begin; whether CBS opts to burn new shows during the Games remains to be seen.

"Hostages," which has struggled in the ratings, will have original episodes through mid-December, take a couple of weeks off for Christmas and New Year's and end its 15-episode season with a two-hour finale on Jan. 6.

That finale, incidentally, will air opposite college football's BCS national championship game on ESPN -- which drew 26 million-plus viewers last year. Ouch.
