Is 'Glee' star Mark Salling's first single a Robbie Williams rip-off?

After listening to this morning's first play of "Glee" star Mark Salling's "Higher Power" during "On-Air With Ryan Seacrest," something seemed familiar. Perhaps just a flashback to "Sweet Caroline"?

But as the day wore on, we couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. Our late '90s pop ballad radar simply could not be silenced.

In comes commenter "mark" to sooth the stormy seas of our confused brain, with his rather convincing assessment that the song sounds just like Robbie Williams' 2000 single "Supreme."

Bingo.

Now you could also argue that both songs borrow heavily from Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" -- which they do, even admittedly in Robbie Williams' case -- but the dark melodic chords and chorus seem distinctly Robbie.

Judge for yourself:

And Robbie Williams' "Supreme"

That's the sound of foul play, readers.

And on slightly related note, congratulations to Williams, who tied the knot this past weekend. Maybe marital bliss will eclipse any sore feelings from copyright infringement.
