Isaiah Washington on his 'Grey's Anatomy' return: 'I was not expecting this'

burke-and-cristina-season-10.jpg Fans were shocked when ABC announced that "Grey's Anatomy" alum Isaiah Washington would return to the long-running series for a single episode in Season 10. And according to Washington, who now stars on The CW's "The 100," he was shocked too.

"I was not expecting this," Washington says on "Access Hollywood Live." "I can't wait."

And as for what brings Dr. Preston Burke back to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, he dropped some juicy hints. "I read the script last night. The script is so amazing. It will blow you away," Washington says. "And I'm hard to blow away, I will say that. But I was blown away. The fans will not be disappointed."

So will Cristina (Sandra Oh) be happy to see the man who left her at the altar? He wouldn't say. But he did have some kind words to say about creator Shonda Rhimes.

"Shonda Rhimes is a genius ... and I'm unbelievably humbled and over the moon with what I read last night," Washington says. "I could not believe it. I had to stop and say, 'Well OK, now what? What is the world going to do after this?' It's all positive. But it's so positive, it's so amazing, that I don't understand ... I just want to know what Shonda Rhimes eats, her DNA, I just have no idea where this comes from."

"Maybe I could get her to come on 'The 100,'" Washington says. "She's a genius, just beyond genius."

"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, and "The 100" airs Wednesdays at 9 on The CW.
