isaiah-washington-2013-sundance-film-festival-gi.jpgIn his first series regular role since making a noisy exit from "Grey's Anatomy" in 2007, Isaiah Washington has booked a key part in The CW sci-fi pilot "The 100."

He'll play Chancellor Jaha, who leads what remains of the human race on a space station orbiting Earth. The survivors decide to send 100 juvenile delinquents back to the planet to explore how it has changed 97 years after a nuclear war.

Following his controversial departure from "Grey's," Washington immediately booked a recurring role on NBC's short-lived "Bionic Woman" reboot. Since then, he's mostly kept a low profile, but he earned critical praise earlier this year for a star turn in the chilling Sundance Film Festival entry "Blue Caprice."

"The 100" is one of several genre-themed pilots in the works at The CW this year including superhero saga "The Tomorrow People," "Hunger Games"-esque "The Selection," girl-meets-alien romance "Oxygen" and "Vampire Diaries" spinoff "The Originals."
