Was Marvel set on turning a comedic TV actor into an action star? That idea seems a little possible with the news of who else auditioned for the role of Star-Lord in "Guardians of the Galaxy," which eventually went to "Parks and Recreation" star Chris Pratt. It turns out "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's" Glenn Howerton read for it as well.

Howerton made the revelation during a conference call, when asked if he has big screen aspirations like his "Always Sunny" co-star Charlie Day, who recently appeared in "Pacific Rim" and "Monsters University." "I think ten years ago I auditioned for the Superman reboot," Glenn says of 2006's "Superman Returns." "I did audition recently for 'Guardians of the Galaxy', to play the role Chris Pratt is playing. And I know the director of that movie is supposedly a big 'Sunny' fan, which is cool."

For Howerton, he says he truly enjoys playing bad guys, though. What role would he really like? "I think playing something like The Riddler would definitely feel like it was in my wheelhouse."

Somewhere in an alternate universe, Howerton had to get super muscular to play a Marvel hero, while Pratt got to keep his former physique, making his wife, Anna Faris, the happiest woman on earth.
