Jack Klugman's son is wrong, Cory Monteith's mom says of Emmy tribute
Cory Monteith's mother Ann McGregor is standing up for her deceased son after his planned tribute at the 2013 Emmy Awards came under fire by Adam Klugman, the son of Jack Klugman. Adam complained about the fact that his father isn't getting honored at the annual television awards show despite winning three Emmys in his career, and notes that Monteith never won a single one.
"They're celebrating this self-inflicted tragedy instead of celebrating the life of my father, who won three Emmys. ... Cory Monteith never won an Emmy," Adam tells the Los Angeles Times. "To compare the contribution he made to the contribution my father made -- it doesn't compare."
McGregor doesn't agree. She thinks that had her son -- who died at age 31 -- lived longer, he definitely would have been recognized by the Emmy committee.
"If he had lived 30 more years he would have accomplished much more," she tells TMZ. The site says that she believes Adam is misdirected in his anger, though she notes that this likely comes from a place of a son who misses his father.
McGregor also tells TMZ that she doesn't plan to watch the Emmy Awards or her son's tribute because it's too painful for her. Monteith died on July 31 of a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol in his system.
