The "My Name Is Earl" actress has joined CBS' pilot that was previously under the working title "Livin' on a Prayer," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The comedy by "How I Met Your Mother" team Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, joined by Kourtney Kang and Joe Kelly, stars Kyle Bornheimer as Tommy, who's been dating Gina for a while and is thinking of taking the next step.

Pressly will play a veterinarian who works with Tommy at the zoo.

She won a best supporting actress Emmy for her role as Joy Turner on NBC's now defunct "Earl."

The "Earl" cast has been moving on. Jason Lee is in the TNT cop-Elvis series "Delta Blues," while his screen brother Ethan Suplee will co-star in "Nevermind Nirvana," a FOX comedy pilot.

In other pilot casting news:

  • Michael Rapaport is toeing "The Line" for ABC. He joins the already cast Dylan Walsh, an ATF agent who hunts down criminals. Rapaport will play a SWAT commander.
  • Zachary Knighton, who plays Dr. Bryce Varley on "FlashForward," has signed on for the "Happy Endings" comedy pilot for ABC. He plays a groom who, with his bride (Elisha Cuthbert), split up at the altar and try to maintain their relationship even though they didn't walk down the aisle. The comedy is in second position for Knighton after "FlashForward," which drew disappointing ratings once it returned from hiatus.
  • Paul Reiser's autobiographical comedy pilot "Next" has found its wife. Amy Landecker will play the supporting spouse in the comedy about a former TV star who's now leading a mundane life.
  • Kurt Fuller is getting patriarchal. The actor has joined the untitled Shana Goldberg-Meehan comedy pilot at ABC as the dad. The project centers on two sisters (Jennifer Finnigan, Joanna Garcia) who are in varying stages of their romantic relationships.
  • CBS' comedy pilot "Open Books" has added Kevin Rahm, who'll play the calm fiancee of a boutique New York publishing house book editor named June (Laura Benanti).
  • Finally, the multi-generational cop pilot starring Tom Selleck as Michael, the chief of police, has added Will Estes and Bridget Moynahan to the ever-growing cast. Estes will play his son Jamie, while Moynahan will play the assistant district attorney daughter.
