James Franco had an announcement for the people of Hollywood when he paid a visit to
"Jimmy Kimmel Live" Thursday (Dec. 2) to discuss his latest gig as co-host of the Oscars.
Franco admits he was hesitant to accept hosting duties of the award show, but after three days of consideration the decision was an obvious one.
"Its a once-in-a-lifetime thing," he says. "Its really just for the experience."
Franco says the main reason behind his initial uncertainty about the offer was the possibility of being a nominee as well.
"People have been saying 'James, you might get nominated for "127 Hours,"' which is a big honor," he explains. To which Kimmel says, "So you figure if you're hosting you could somehow cheat it so you'll actually win?"
"No!" exclaims Franco. In fact, no one has ever won while hosting, which was both a relief and selling point for GQ's man of the year.
"For me its like, if I host, thats like taking the pressure off. I don't have to worry about it anymore," he says.
As for his co-host,
Anne Hathaway, though the two are now "text message buddies" they've yet to meet in person. "We have good text chemistry," he says of the actress.
Perhaps the funniest moment of Franco's "JKL" appearance came when he decided to take a little break from the interview to fulfill a dream of his. Check out where Franco ends up in the clip above.
