"FIfty Shades of Grey" star Jamie Dornan and his good friend / "Les Miserables" crooner Eddie Redmayne are among the latest celebrities to accept the ALS Ice Bucket challenge.
The two actors have been friends for years, having been struggling actors in London together before each of them hit their big breaks (Dornan on "Once Upon a Time" and Redmayne in "My Week with Marilyn" and "Les Mis"). Now they are teaming up to give back to charity.
Redmayne went first, dumping a bucket of ice cold water over his head after nominating the MND Association's Sally Light and then Dornan. Dornan added an extra bucket of water to make sure that Redmayne was fully drenched before stepping into the frame and accepting the challenge. Before he too was doused he nominated Spider-Man himself (and also a friend of Dornan and Redmayne) Andrew Garfield.
Garfield was also nominated by his girlfriend and "The Amazing Spider-man" co-star Emma Stone yesterday (Aug. 19).
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has turned into a gigantic social phenomenon. If you accept the challenge you have 24 hours to make a video of yourself dumping a bucket of ice water on your head and make a donation to the ALS Foundation -- a non-profit organization that raises money to find a cure for Lou Gehrig's disease. If you refuse to accept the challenge you are supposed to make an even larger donation.
The movement has raised millions of dollars for the ALS Foundation and has shown no signs of slowing down yet. If money is being raised for a good cause and the public gets to see beautiful people soaking wet, we definitely can't complain.
