Jane Lynch: 'Glee's' Cheerios coach not a football fan

jane-lynch-glee-320.jpg Jane Lynch is not a person who's into sports, she just plays one on TV.

Thus, "Glee's" ruthless cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester is picking a team in Sunday's (Feb. 7)  Super Bowl for reasons unrelated to football.

Asked whether she's rooting for the Indianapolis Colts or the New Orleans Saints, Lynch tells Zap2it, "I couldn't even tell you ... except because of Katrina and everything, I'm going for the Saints. I want them to have a win."

That's more of an opinion than Lynch usually has on sports. She admits she hasn't paid much attention "since I lived in Chicago, where you have to be a sports fan or you get beat up. When I left Chicago, I didn't care anymore."

In fact, Lynch might not be anywhere near a television Sunday. She says she plans to stay away from Super Bowl XLIV. "The whole thing kind of depresses me, though I don't know why."

Super Bowl XLIV airs Sunday, Feb. 7 on CBS. "Glee" returns to FOX on Tuesday, April 13.
