Jane Lynch joins 'Annie' on Broadway as Miss Hannigan

jane-lynch-sag.jpgEmmy-winning "Glee" star Jane Lynch will make her Broadway debut playing iconic villain Miss Hannigan in the current revival of "Annie."

Beginning May 16, Lynch will step in for Tony-winning cast member Katie Finneran as Hannigan, so Finneran can begin production on Michael J. Fox's untitled comedy series which already has a 22-episode order for next season on NBC.

Lynch's run is scheduled to go through July 14, which presumably should not conflict with her "Glee" duties should FOX renew the show for a fifth season. (And presuming Lynch remains with "Glee" as a full-time cast member, something we honestly hope she's reconsidering given the terrible use of her character lately.)

However, it's not unprecedented for a "Glee" cast member to try out Broadway while the show is filming: Darren Criss did a three-week stint as the star of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" during "Glee's" third season.
