Janet Jackson married Wissam Al Mana in secret ceremony
After weeks of rumors that Janet and her boyfriend, Wissam Al Mana, are engaged and planning a glamorous wedding, the couple has come forward with the truth: they wed in 2012.
Janet and Wissam tell ET, "The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony." They also say they went low key and philanthropic on matrimonial presents.
"Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children's charities," the couple says in their statement. "We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy."
The "Rhythm Nation" singer and "Poetic Justice" actress enjoyed a previous secret marriage to Rene Elizondo, Jr. for eight years. She married Elizondo, the man holding her breasts in the legendary "Rolling Stone" magazine cover, in 1991 without telling even some members of her family. Janet was also rumored to be engaged to longtime boyfriend, rapper and music producer Jermaine Dupri.
Janet and Wissam stepped out together Feb. 25 for a fashion Giorgio Armani fashion show in Italy. You know what they say: the couple that poses for the paparazzi together ... stays together?
