Jared Padalecki's baby fever: 'Supernatural' star is expecting a boy
"Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki opened up to Tonic.com and confessed that he initially thought his wife, former co-star Genevieve Padalecki, was having a girl. "Shows what I know," he joked. "I grew up in a family where the oldest sibling was a boy and I appreciated the extra guidance and protection."
Despite the speculation, he wasn't hoping for one gender or the other. "As cheesy as it sounds, I really want, and wanted, nothing more than a healthy baby."
No word on whether there will be a little Jared Jr. running around, though - Jared notes that they haven't chosen a name quite yet. "We've thrown around countless names, probably every one in the books and a few that we kind of made up. But we both agree that we'd like to meet our child before we decide [on] a name."
Surprised by the outpouring of support from fans, Jared and Genevieve requested that all gifts come in the form of donations to the St. Jude Children's Hospital. Jared, who confessed to shedding a tear over the fandom's call to action, says, "The outcry of love and support, by way of Twitter, that we received ... was so moving and touching that we were once again reminded of how blessed and fortunate we have been," he explains. "We thought it might be a great opportunity to give back by having those gifts go to a charity that we've supported."
In the meantime, the couple is reading all the "What to Expect" books they can get their hands on. "With Gen being an English major, and me being the son of an English major, and both of us loving to read, we have taken to reading all of the books that we can," he says.
