Jason Aldean talks cheating scandal with CMT, vows to 'face it and deal with it'
Although Aldean already issued an apology, and Kerr reportedly did not know he was married, the "Don't You Wanna Stay" singer still had to face questions about the incident for a "CMT Insider" interview airing this weekend.
"You can go hide and run from it, or you can get up and face it and deal with it," Aldean tells "CMT Insider" host Katie Cook. "And that's kind of what we tried to do and just kind of move on."
"I know everybody's kinda going to have their opinion, and for the people that know me and know what I'm about ... the people that are standing by us and supporting us, all I've got to say to them is thanks," he says. "I mean, I really appreciate it, and it's just been a really unfortunate thing. Really embarrassing, I think, more than anything."
"The main thing is that me and my family are OK, and everything's good there," Aldean says of his relationship with his wife of 11 years, Jessica, and their two daughters. "So I think it's been a tough deal. But I kind of said what I needed to say to them and, hopefully, they understand that. And the rest of it will be us dealing with it in private and trying to fix it."
Aldean is promoting a new album, "Night Train," due for release Oct. 16. The "CMT Insider" interview airs Oct. 13 and 14 at 11 a.m. ET.
