When "Today" show correspondent and children's books author had a baby shower, it came with a very fitting theme. Hager's "book shower" saw her receive dozens of children's books, all inscribed with parenting advice from the gift giver, according to People.
Former "Today" anchor Meredith Vieira gave Jenna a copy of "We're Going on a Bear Hunt," with the best advice of all: "Get a nap anytime you can." Meanwhile, current "Today" host Hoda Kotb told Jenna to simply do whatever her own mom did.
Hager's father, President George W. Bush, had a different gift in mind. The former president has taken up painting as a hobby since he left office, and used his new skill to create three pieces of artwork for the nursery. The first is a portrait of Hager's cat Bernadette, which will hang over the crib. The second work is a landscape painting featuring a "baby tree" located on the Bush family ranch in Texas.
Finally, President Bush painted a still life of the spot at the ranch where Jenna married her husband, Henry Hager, at nightfall. According to Jenna, that one is titled "Goodnight Moon." "He's become an artiste. There's a whole new side of him and he's so excited about the baby," she says of her father.
Not all of the gifts Jenna received were for her upcoming child. Jackie Levin, a "Today" producer, gave Jenna a book that is meant for her, a copy of "Fifty Shades of Grey." Upon receiving the book, Hager glanced at her husband, saying, "That's baby number two material."
