- Jenna Elfman will flex her drama muscles on DirecTV's "Damages" for the show's fifth and final season. She's playing an investment banker who has a hand in a case that sees Patty and Ellen facing off in court. Elfman will guest star alongside "Spartacus" star John Hannah and the previously announced Ryan Phillippe. [ Deadline]

- Nick at Night is looking to Scott Baio to bring some of his "Happy Days" magic to the programming block's first original series. Nickelodeon has greenlit "Daddy's Home," its very first comedy pilot, starring Baio as an actor who becomes a stay-at-home father while his wife goes back to work. [ Nick at Nite]

- Although "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" doesn't premiere until midseason, the ABC comedy is scoring some excellent guest stars already. Thomas Lennon ( "Reno 911") and Bruce Davison ( "X-Men") have signed on for roles in an upcoming episode as a stockbroker and his father. As B----es are wont to do, the titular character sleeps with one of them. [ TV Guide]

- Melanie Griffith could head to the small screen in a new Lifetime series. The network is finalizing a deal on a pilot produced by Griffith and her husband, Antonio Banderas, called "American Housewife." The actress will reportedly star in the drama, about a rich housewife who converses with "an inner voice." [ Entertainment Weekly]
