jennifer-beals-venice-gi.jpgABC's drama pilot "Venice" has snagged Jennifer Beals for a lead role and one of her former bosses as showrunner.

"The L Word" creator Ilene Chaiken will serve as executive producer and showrunner on the pilot, Deadline reports. She'll once again be working with Beals, who starred on "The L Word."

"Venice," written by Byron Balasco ("Without a Trace"), is about two rival families fighting for control of what the logline calls "California's most seductive city" but is really just a beachfront neighborhood in L.A. There's also a Romeo and Juliet-style romance between members of the warring families.

Beals most recently had a recurring part on FOX's "The Mob Doctor" and starred in "The Chicago Code" prior to that.
