Jennifer Lawrence is naked more in 'X-Men' sequel: Mystique is 'Mutant and proud'

Jennifer Lawrence is going to be spending a lot more time in blue in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" than she did in "X-Men: First Class." Though the movie is going to be loaded with fashions from its 1970s setting, Lawrence won't get to wear many of them because Mystique is going to spend much of the film living in only her own skin.

"I'm naked," Lawrence tells Sci-Fi Now of her time as Mystique in the new movie. "But when I do get to wear clothes, I love the '70s outfits."

So why the shift towards more body paint in the "X-Men" sequel? Lawrence says that Mystique is more at home in her mutant body in "Days of Future Past" than she was 10 years earlier in "First Class."

"Some of the Mystique look is a little different, but we're still using the same paint. But she's different in this film too," Lawrence says. "She was struggling -- like a lot of normal humans -- with the way she looked, and she was covered up a lot in the first movie, but this time she is Mutant and proud."

Lawrence isn't the only woman who's had to strip down for the role of Mystique. Rebecca Romijn also donned prosthetics and body paint when she played the character in the first three "X-Men" movies.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is due in theaters on May 23, 2014.
