Shailene Woodley's star is definitely on the rise. After receiving acclaim for her work, including a Golden Globe nomination for "The Descendants," she's now the face of the young adult novel adaptation, "Divergent." In many ways her career is mirroring the path taken by Jennifer Lawrence, star of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."
That may be why Shailene looked to her for advice, before signing into a long contract for the movies. Shailene explains that she was wary about being contractually obligated to "Divergent" for four years, after ending her five-year stay on ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager."
While the two haven't met in person yet, Shailene says she did have some contact with Jennifer, telling Vanity Fair, "She gave me really beautiful advice and said that I should definitely take it."
Never short on words, that wasn't all of the wisdom Lawrence offered. According to Woodley, she also advised, "It will be the best thing that ever happened. But don't be an idiot, do a sex tape, [or] do drugs. And go to Whole Foods when your movie opens." Great advice that Shailene would be wise to take to heart. Especially the Whole Foods thing.
"Divergent" will be in theaters March 21, 2014.
