Jennifer Lopez is returning to judge "American Idol" in Season 13. According to reports, the performer is in the final stages of negotiations with the FOX competition show.

Deadline.com writes that Lopez and "Idol" have reached a deal for the singer to judge next season. A formal announcement is expected within the next couple of weeks. Lopez previously judged the program for Seasons 10 and 11 before leaving.

If Lopez is indeed signing on for Season 13, that fills only two of the judges' chairs -- Season 12 judge Keith Urban was confirmed earlier this week. Jennifer Hudson had earlier been reported as an upcoming judge, but her participation is now in question now that "Idol" isn't trying for an all-alum panel. The other main name making the rounds is will.i.am: "American Idol" insiders indicate that he is a top pick for producers.

Why would someone like Jennifer Lopez return to "Idol" after leaving? The paycheck is one answer -- Lopez will reportedly earn as much as $15 million for her services. Also, the high profile of "American Idol" means a potential career boost, which always helpful.

Most of the Season 12 judges departed the show this spring, leaving behind the competition's lowest ratings. Changes both behind-the-scenes and on-camera are hoped to hold ratings up in the face of competition from "The Voice."
