Jerry Lewis too sick to perform in Australia

jerry-lewis-retires.jpg Jerry Lewis, a man who has dedicated decades to raising money for Muscular Dystrophy Foundations, planned to headline another fundraiser on Friday (June 24) in Sydney, Australia. But just minutes before Lewis was set to take the stage, the audience was informed that the veteran entertainer was too sick to take the stage.

"He couldn't even get out of the car, he was pale and looked extremely unwell," concert venue executive Richard Errington tells News.com.au.

The 85-year-old planned to do a series of eight concerts across the country to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of Australia. Earlier in the day, he told a journalist of his "love of Australia and great no-nonsense Aussies."

When the crowd awaiting Lewis' performance was informed of his illness, they rose and gave the absent entertainer a standing ovation.

No details about Lewis' condition, or whether he was taken to a hospital, have been released.
