Jimmy Fallon gives Jay Leno lifetime invitation to 'Tonight Show'
Jimmy Fallon might be taking over "The Tonight Show," but Thursday (Feb. 6) won't necessarily be the last time viewers see Jay Leno on the show. At least, not if Fallon has anything to say about it.
In an interview on "Today," Fallon explains how he extended a lifetime invitation to Leno to come on "The Tonight Show." Fallon takes over as host of the late-night institution on Feb. 17.
"I told Jay, I gave him a round trip ticket to New York -- coach, because he's humble -- and he can always upgrade if he wants to. Honestly, as many jokes as he wants. The stage is his. He knows that," Fallon says. "So whenever he wants, he's got a stage."
As for the former "Saturday Night Live" star, he's just excited to get started on "Tonight." "I'm just looking forward to the next chapter in my life," he says.
