Jimmy Kimmel buys Bea Arthur nude painting for $1.9 million for comedian Jeff Ross? Nope.

bea-arthur-nude-portrait-christies.jpgJimmy Kimmel has been revealed as the purchaser of a nude painting of "Golden Girls" star Bea Arthur -- which he bought for $1.9 million dollars for his friend, comedian Jeffrey Ross. The painting, by artist John Currin, was done in 1991 and is simply titled "Bea Arthur Naked."

Jeff Ross is famous for a joke he made about Arthur during a Friar's Club Roast.

"Sandra Bernhard had just sung this ridiculous song," Ross recalls to TVHowl.com. "I can't remember the name of the song she sang, she sang 'Magic Man' or something like that to Jerry Stiller. He was the honoree, it was a Friars Club Roast in New York in 1999 and I can't remember the song she sang, but it was very sexy obviously [and it] made Jerry squirm, as he would whenever anything vulgar or dirty [was said]. He was very shy that way. It was very funny to watch, and I went up next and I said, 'Sandra Bernhard! Holy s***! I wouldn't f*** you with Bea Arthur's d***!'"

On Friday, Ross revealed on Twitter that he was the recipient of the expensive portrait, thanks to Kimmel. Kimmel responded, "Bea is watching over all of us, but especially you."

Update: The tweets between Ross and Kimmel were apparently intended purely for humor, as Kimmel later denied purchasing the painting. Good one, Jeff.
