jimmy-kimmel-matt-damon.jpgThe long-standing and probably fake beef between Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon is coming to an end. Or at least a cease-fire.

Damon will at long last be a guest on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Jan. 24, Kimmel told a group of reporters visiting the show's set Friday (Jan. 11).

"It's something that I actually don't welcome," Kimmel deadpans. "Matt Damon is going to do our show on Jan. 24. We have a long history -- it's an unpleasant history, but he will be here."

Early in Kimmel's tenure, he made a joke at the end of a show about having to bump Damon for time. It clicked, and he's done it virtually every night since then. The "feud" escalated when Kimmel's then-girlfriend, Sarah Silverman, showed him the "I'm F***ing Matt Damon" video on "Live" in 2008. (Kimmel later responded with a video of his own, "I'm F***ing Ben Affleck.")

Damon has appeared in a couple other filmed bits for "JKL," but he's never been a guest. That will change in a couple of weeks -- but Kimmel says he probably won't change his closing line after Damon's appearance.

"We'll probably continue with the same nonsense," he says. "I think Matt would be disappointed if we dropped him. He's almost a good luck charm."
