J.J. Abrams directing the new 'Star Wars' movie? - report
The Wrap certainly seems to think so, claiming Abrams has signed on to direct the first movie in the new "Star Wars" trilogy. Ben Affleck, director of "Argo," was also in contention for the coveted film.
Speculation about Abrams directing the new movie first popped up soon after Disney bought Lucasfilm, and promised more installments were on the way. J.J. has gone on record as saying he wouldn't take the job, though.
If this report is correct, something obviously changed. Abrams plans to produce a film about Lance Armstrong, but currently has no other directing jobs lined up as he waits for the release of "Star Trek Into Darkness" in May.
