joan-rivers-life-support-hospital.jpgJoan Rivers is on life support days after a complication during surgery left her unable to breathe. The comedian is reportedly "completely reliant on machines to stay alive," according to TMZ.

The site says Rivers' family will have to decide in the next few days whether to leave the 81-year-old on life support or turn off the machines, but "the family remains hopeful that if they do decide to turn off the machines, she will make a turn for the better and fight through it."

The "Fashion Police" star stopped breathing during throat surgery on Thursday (Aug. 28) and was in critical condition, although she was upgraded to "stable" after some time.
