John Oliver to replace Jon Stewart on 'The Daily Show' over the summerAdd to Favorites | The Daily Show With Jon Stewart
For two months this summer, Comedy Central is going to be airing "The Daily Show with John Oliver," not "Jon Stewart." Stewart will be taking a hiatus in order to film his directorial debut, and John Oliver is the man who will fill in his place.
Deadline reports that Stewart will be taking a 12 week break to focus on filming his new movie "Rosewater," and that Oliver will serve as "guest host" for eight of those weeks. Oliver is a regular on the comedy news program, so it will be interesting to see him take a leading role.
"Rosewater" is an adaptation of BBC journalist Maziar Bahari's book "Then They Came For Me: A Family's Story of Love, Captivity and Survival." It tells the story of Bahari's captivity in Iran in 2009 when he was tortured by a man he only recognized by the fact he smelled of rosewater. Stewart wrote the script and will direct. It's unclear if he'll take a role in the movie as well.
