While most found Kate Gosselin's "Today" show appearance with 13-year-old twins Cara and Mady awkward, one person thought it was "horrible." That would be the girls' father, Jon Gosselin.

The Jon of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" called into TMZ to give his take on the very quiet interview, which saw the twins go silent when asked about growing up on camera. "I felt upset," Gosselin says. "I was laying there with Liz and we were like, 'Say something girls. Say anything.'"

For Gosselin, more than anything else, the interview "kind of proves my point about Kate bringing the kids out instead of just doing it herself." "If they were scripted and they believed in it, don't you think they would have said something?" he asks.

When the question is posed whether or not he thinks his ex-wife is manipulating the children, Gosselin answers, "In my heart, that's what I believe. That's what I feel. I can't prove it." However, he says he has no legal standing to keep Kate from taking the kids on her press tour.

As for Kate's response to the appearance, she writes on Twitter, "Thanks to @TODAYshow for having Cara, Mady and me on the show today! 1st live interview can render even the gabbiest girls speechless."
