Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert extend their Comedy Central contracts

stephen-colbert-jon-stewart-gi.jpg "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" are staying put at Comedy Central. Hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have signed contract extensions to remain with their respective shows.

The cable channel announced Wednesday (July 25) that Stewart has signed a new deal to remain as host, executive producer and writer of "The Daily Show" through the middle of 2015. Colbert's new contract runs through the end of 2014.

Colbert's contract was due to expire at the end of this year, while Stewart's would have been up next summer.

Both "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" have seen their ratings rise this season, with "The Daily Show" up 10 percent in adults 18-49 and "Colbert" improvng by 11 percent in the demographic.
