Jon Stewart dubs Super Bowl food crisis 'Hungry Games' on 'The Daily Show'Add to Favorites | The Daily Show With Jon Stewart
Will Super Bowl viewers have to do without their favorite unhealthy snacks for this year's game? As detailed on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," the shortages of certain foods from chicken wings to Velveeta could make this year "The Hungry Games."
Of course, there's always the chance that some of these "shortages" could be used to drum up sales before the year's biggest football event, just like Hostess going out of business make Twinkies sales skyrocket. Jon Stewart is understandably skeptical.
"Something about this Velveeta shortage feels a little -- what's the word I'm looking for -- bulls***," he quips, but cautions, "Maybe our precious cheese-like substance is safe, but football fans shouldn't get too comfortable, because a very real and even more devastating shortage is on the horizon."
It turns out a fast-spreading porcine virus is affecting pigs in a number of states, which means one horrible thing: A bacon shortage is looming. But with Super Bowl XLVIII less than two weeks away, what will viewers do without their bacon-wrapped hot dogs and bacon cheeseburgers? Or if they're going for the healthier bacon option, a Cobb salad? The horror!
