Jon Stewart skewers Sarah Palin and more on reaction to 'Innocence of Muslims' unrest
While violent protests overwhelmed embassies in the Middle East last week, Jon Stewart and "The Daily Show" were on a post-National Convention hiatus -- which meant that when his show returned on Monday night, he had a lot to catch up on.
It seems that the extended break gave his team time to raid the archives, because he dug out some old footage of some of his favorite conservatives. Let's just say that some of their opinions seem to have... evolved since the Bush Administration.
"We could go all night bringing up examples of pundits and bloviators on the right who couldn't do enough to promote democracy in the Middle East as long as it was done at the end of George Bush's gun," Stewart says. "But as soon as Middle Eastern countries choose leaders for themselves, lordy lord, the pearls can't be clutched enough."
As announced on Monday night's show, Stewart will go head-to-head with conservative pundit Bill O'Reilly in a live debate on Oct. 6, titled "The Rumble In The Air Conditioned Auditorium." You can view the whole thing online for $4.95 at TheRumble2012.com. Half of the proceeds will go to charity.
