Jonathan Rhys Meyers' 'Dracula' salary delayed over addiction concerns
According to THR sources, NBC withheld part of the estimated $100,000-per-episode salary until filming was finished, since Rhys Meyers' struggles with substance abuse haunted his Showtime series "The Tudors." Instead, the actor received small per diem payments and other dispensations, with the majority of his salary contingent upon him getting the entire season of "Dracula" filmed in Budapest.
THR also reports that Rhys Meyers was briefly hospitalized in London while "Dracula" was filming, but he did eventually deliver all 10 episodes of Season 1 of the gothic drama. He had a sober companion on set and then returned to rehab as soon as filming was completed. Prior to this stint, he had been to rehab three separate times since 2005.
A source close to the 36-year-old actor says, "Jonathan's in a really good place, and he's healthy."
