Joseph Gordon-Levitt joins 'Sin City 2,' not 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
Gordon-Levitt's role in the "Sin City" ensemble cast is a central part, according to Deadline, and one that was originally offered to Johnny Depp (who worked with director Robert Rodriguez on "Once Upon a Time in Mexico"). The sequel is currently filming with an anticipated release date of Oct. 4.
Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Bruce Willis, Michael Madsen and Jaime King have already signed on to reprise their roles from the first film. Dennis Haysbert is taking over a role originally played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan.
Meanwhile, the search for a lead actor in "Guardians" continues. Deadline reports that Gordon-Levitt is officially out of the running and Marvel is already evaluating other candidates.
Gordon-Levitt is about to unveil his directorial debut, "Don Jon's Addiction," at this year's Sundance Film Festival and will also host the fest's awards ceremony on Jan. 26. He starred in four movies in 2012 -- "The Dark Knight Rises," "Lincoln," "Looper" and "Premium Rush" -- and has also been rumored for a role -- possibly Batman himself -- in Warner Bros.' DC Comics epic "Justice League."
