Joseph Gordon Levitt joins 'Lincoln,' excited about 'The Dark Knight Rises'
On Thursday (May 5), DreamWorks announced the 30-year-old actor is joining a high-wattage line-up for "Lincoln." Gordon-Levitt will play the president's oldest son, Robert. He'll be joined on-screen by Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader and the imminently watchable John Hawkes.
Gordon-Levitt is also gearing up to take on an as-yet-amorphous role in "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises," scheduled to begin shooting later this month in Pittsburgh.
"I am so excited to be working with ['Inception' director Christopher Nolan] again," Gordon-Levitt tells Zap2it. "He's making a movie from his heart. Even though Chris makes these gargantuan movies, he manages to maintain that purity of storytelling. I think that's a big part of why so many people love his movies.
We caught up with Gordon-Levitt on Monday (May 2) at a press day for the upcoming indie "Hesher" (opening May 13) in which he plays the title character -- a nomadic metalhead who drops into the lives of a grieving father and son (Rainn Wilson and Devin Brochu) and helps them out of their grief with a little tough love, porn and dirty jokes.
