Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play Alberto Falcone in 'The Dark Knight Rises'?
Variety reports that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to re-team with "Inception" director Christopher Nolan and co-star Tom Hardy for the third "Batman" flick "The Dark Knight Rises."
Fans have been speculating for weeks on who Gordon-Levitt would play should he be cast -- the most popular guesses being The Riddler or Deadshot. While it's not confirmed, insiders tell Variety that he will be playing Alberto Falcone. Falcone is the son of Mafia chieftain Carmine Falcone, a character from "Batman Begins" played by Tom Wilkinson.
Alberto Falcone is also known as The Holiday Killer and fits in with Nolan's plans for the trilogy -- bringing in realistic villains for Christian Bale's Batman and having the series come full-circle.
Indie actress Juno Temple is also reportedly in contention for a role as a street-smart Gotham girl. Sources say no formal offer is on the table yet.
Warner Bros. declined to comment on the casting rumors. "The Dark Knight Rises" is scheduled to hit theaters July 20, 2012.
