josh-jackson-showtime-gi.jpg "Fringe" star Joshua Jackson has landed his next TV project, a Showtime drama pilot called "The Affair."

The pilot, from "In Treatment" writers Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi, focuses on two marriages and the effect an affair has on each of them. Jackson joins Dominic West ("The Wire," "The Hour"), Ruth Wilson ("Luther") and Maura Tierney ("ER," "The Good Wife") in the cast.

Jackson will play a character named Cole, a "hard-edged cowboy" who manages a Long Island ranch that has been in his family for decades. His wife, Allison (Wilson), begins an affair with West's character, Noah, whose family is vacationing on the island for the summer. Tierney plays Noah's wife, Helen.

Jackson, who also starred on "Dawson's Creek," is coming off five seasons of "Fringe" on FOX. He sat out the network pilot season after "Fringe" wrapped in January but could be back on television in 2014 if Showtime picks up "The Affair."

Treem and Levi are executive producing the pilot along with director Mark Mylod ("Shameless").
