Joss Whedon: Electing Mitt Romney will ensure the zombie apocalypse

Joss Whedon is endorsing Mitt Romney as the candidate to usher us into the zombie apocalypse.

Yes, you read that right. The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator has released a hilarious new video where he explains his support for the Republican presidential candidate. While he says he started out in support of Barack Obama like most liberals, Whedon claims that he thinks that Romney is going to be the man to prepare us for the rise of the undead.

"Romney is ready to make the deep rollbacks in healthcare, education, social services, reproductive rights that will guarantee poverty, unemployment, overpopulation, disease, rioting -- all crucial elements in creating a nightmare zombie wasteland," Whedon says. "But it's his commitment to unregulated corporate privilege that will nosedive this economy into true insolvency and chaos, the kind of chaos you can't buy back."

He continues, "Money is only so much paper to the undead. The 1 percent will no longer be the very rich, it will be the very fast. Anyone who can run, fight, make explosives out of household objects or especially do parkour of any kind, you'll want to stick with them... unless they read Ayn Rand."

Whedon clarifies that he doesn't "pretend to see the future" (after all, who really knows whether these will be fast or slow zombies), but he does promise in this video that the zombie apocalypse is coming. Regardless of who you are, Whedon says, you should prepare yourself from the unavoidable future.

"You need to ask yourself, 'Am I ready? Am I ready for the purity and courage of Mitt Romney's apocalyptic vision?' Mitt's ready. He's not afraid to face a ravening, grasping horde of subhumans, because that's how he sees poor people already," Whedon quips. "Let's all embrace the future, stop pretending like we care about each other and start hoarding canned goods, because if Mitt takes office, sooner or later the Zomnies will come for all of us."

We've heard many celebrities offer up their opinions for the upcoming election, but we've got to credit Whedon for having one of the most creative and hilarious endorsement videos to date. The bottom line is that, regardless of who you support, you should get out and vote on Nov. 6 -- especially if the zombie apocalypse is on its way.
