Julianne Hough apologizes for blackface 'Orange Is the New Black' costume
Guess Julianne Hough was feeling the backlash ...
Just a mere few hours after the internet blew up over the "Dancing With the Stars" pro dancer's blackface Halloween costume, Hough has taken to Twitter to apologize for her offensive portrayal of an "Orange Is the New Black" character.
"I am a huge fan of the show 'Orange is the New black,' actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created," Hough writes. "It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."
Hough was photographed at the Casamigos Tequila party in Hollwood on Friday (Oct. 25) as part of a group "Orange Is the New Black" costume, and the dancer chose to go as Crazy Eyes. Instead of just rocking the orange jumpsuit and signature knotted hairstyle attributed to Aduba's character, Hough also painted her face a dark brown, which offended many people.
