'Justified,' 'Archer' likely to be renewed at FX

The cable channel, which has seen its critically praised new series "Terriers" and "Lights Out" go down to weak ratings this season, is on the verge of renewing two of its second-year shows. "Justified" and "Archer" are in line for pickups when FX holds its upfront presentation next week.

"Justified" is performing better this season than it did last year, Deadline notes. New episodes are averaging about 4 million viewers (including DVR use), with a little more than half of those viewers falling into the 18-49 demographic. Both numbers are up 16 percent over last season.

Animated comedy "Archer," meanwhile, could be headed for a multiple-season renewal. Vulture reports that FX and the show's producers have been in "extended negotiations" that may possibly point to more than a one-year pickup. Whether it's for one season or more than that, more of Sterling Archer and Co. seems likely: The show's audience has grown by 20 percent this season.
