Justin Bieber remains silent about 'Cut for Bieber' Twitter trend

Justin Bieber might have seemingly responded to photos of him smoking pot, but he has remained silent about the horrific "Cut for Bieber" trend that took over Twitter recently.

Instead of responding to his fans or encouraging them to seek self-help, Bieber instead has been tweeting about his concert in Denver and about his upcoming "Believe" acoustic album. He also did acknowledge meeting a Make a Wish foundation child, which happened amidst his drug controversy.

At least Miley Cyrus stepped up and reprimanded those who were retweeting #cut4bieber, which was started as a joke on the 4chan forums (or 9gag, depending on who you talk to). "#cut4bieber? Cutting is NOT something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful," she tweeted.

While Bieber easily could have remained silent about the pot photos, the #cut4bieber seems like it would have the appropriate time for him to come forward and make some sort of statement. Previous pranks like the cancer hoax show that his fans can be impressionable, and with some of them actually cutting themselves with the belief that the trend was meant to stop Bieber from using drugs, he really should have come forward and tried to stop them. It seems doubtful that this entire event went down without him noticing.

As written in the original "Cut for Bieber" post, if you're struggling with self-harm, you can call 1-800-DONT-CUT for more information. In case of emergencies or if you're having a crisis, call the 24-hour hotline 1-800-273-TALK. The hotline 1-877-332-7333 is also available specifically for teens.

What do you think? Should Bieber have said something to the fans participating in #cut4bieber? Or was he right to maintain his silence?
