Justin Bieber sued for punching and kicking paparazzo
It's no secret that Justin Bieber is not a fan of paparazzi. He's thrown water bottles at them, cursed at and shoved them and even run them over with his car. He pretended to beat one up in a "Believe" movie sequence, ranted about them on Twitter and called for new laws to be put in place preventing paparazzi from stalking celebrities. Well, now they're striking back.
A paparazzo named Jose Osmin Hernandez Duran is suing Bieber for an alleged attack that took place at a Calabasas, Calif. mall movie theater in 2012, the Associated Press reports. He claims that Bieber punched and kicked him while he was trying to snap photos of the pop star leaving the movie theater with then-girlfriend Selena Gomez. Duran describes Bieber's attack as martial arts-type kick.
Bieber's representatives have not responded to the lawsuit. Duran is looking for unspecified damages for "severe and extreme emotional distress" and negligence. The idea of Bieber karate kicking a paparazzo from six to eight feet away seems like a bit of a stretch, but the part of the story where Bieber jumped out of his car to attack the man after he already started driving away seems totally feasible. It will be interesting to see if and how Bieber chooses to respond.
