Justin Timberlake stands up for Miley Cyrus' controversial new style
Miley Cyrus' VMAs performance with Robin Thicke and subsequent increasingly sexualized style has left celebrity musicians divided. For every Cher bashing her, there's a Lady Gaga defending the 20-year-old pop star. Now Justin Timberlake is adding his thoughts to the discussion of whether Cyrus' performance was out of line.
"I don't know that I have a definitive thought in one direction or the other about it," Timberlake says on "Today." "I think she's really smart, and I think she's really talented. I'm not saying I agree with the presentation, but I also feel like every 10 to 15 years we pick somebody that this is what we're going to do with them, is we're going to make them the model of who we want our daughters to be or not be."
Timberlake shared similar thoughts not long after Cyrus' controversial performance. "She's young, she's letting everyone know she's growing up," he told Jim Douglas of Fresh 102.7 in NYC. "It was the VMAs, what did you guys expect? It's not like she did it at the Grammys. Let her do her thing."
